IDX (Internet Data Exchange) is the system that allows Realtors® to show MLS property listings on their websites. It is definitely an advantage for a Realtor to offer this search feature on their website, positioning them as a serious professional, as well as offering real estate searches as a benefit to clients. When visitors can search the MLS right on your website it will keep them looking at your branding information, and serve as a great prospecting tool. IDX is made possible by an IDX "data feed" from your local Board of Realtors. IDX feeds are not free. The pricing is set my MLS Boards, and third party vendors. Without a supported IDX feed seamlessly incorporated into your website, searches are clunky and frustrating for visitors, and not mobile adaptive for viewing. Also of high importance is that you do not receive ANY SEO benefits because "free" MLS searches that your Agency might offer, meaning people are actually leaving your site to search so there is no link to your site for Search Engine Optimization.
